Weekend Library Assistant
ABOUT AIC
American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Opening and/or closing the library on Saturdays & Sundays primarily; some weekdays during academic times
- All aspects of circulation responsibilities on weekends
- Basic reference assistance on weekends
- All aspects of supervision of weekend student workers
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Degree(s): High school diploma
- Preferred Degree(s): Bachelors degree
- Preferred Field of Expertise: academic librarianship
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of intergated library systems
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a part time, non-exempt, twelve month, non-benefited position scheduled for 16 hours per week. Normal hours for the position are:
- Fridays, 6:00pm - 8:00pm (academic year) and 2:30pm - 4:30pm (summer)
- Saturdays and Sundays: 9:45am - 5:15pm with a thirty minute unpaid lunch break
The schedule for this position is flexible to the needs of the department.
