Mental Health Initiatives Coordinator

Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Education and Prevention Services, this position supports the success and personal development of students with coordination of evidence-based and theory-driven health promotion initiatives. This includes the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion strategies, policies, programs, interventions, and services that create an environment where the university community can learn, grow, and succeed. This position will focus primarily on the promotion of mental and emotional health and suicide prevention.

Required Qualifications:
A master's degree in Counseling, social work, or public health with experience in mental health and resiliency
• Demonstrated success working collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• Evidence of the ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing mental/emotional health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including experience with public speaking/presenting and small group facilitation.
• Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions and budget allocations.
• Experience conducting literature reviews, program evaluations, interpreting findings, and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to the findings.
• Experience developing and administering mental health promotion initiatives.
• Strong interest in topics related to mental health, stress and mindfulness
• Professional writing skills and proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Available to work some nights and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in Mental Health First Aid, QPR suicide prevention, Green Dot bystander training, and/or Campus Connect gatekeeper training.
• Certified Health Education Specialist ( CHES ), Certified in Public Health ( CPH ), or eligible and intent to become certified.
• History of verified active membership in relevant professional associations (e.g. ACHA , APHA , NASPA , SOPHE , etc.)Experience with managing grant-funded projects.
• Experience working in a college/university setting.
• Experience leading peer educators
• Experience with personnel training, especially college-age students.
