Patrol Security Officer/Emergency Medical Technician


Brief Summary:

The Office of Safety and Security seeks a full-time, 12 month, Patrol Security Officer/Emergency Medical Technician. There are two positions available.

D Shift:11PM-7AM Thr into Fri, Fri into Sat. 3PM-11PM Sun, Mon and Tue
F Shift:11PM-7AM Sat into Sun, Sun into Mon, Mon into Tue, Tue into Wed and Wed into Thr

RESPONSIBLE TO: Shift Supervisor, Associate Director and Director of Security

WORKS WITH: Other Security Officers, staff, and students


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Patrol grounds, check for Fire & Safety Hazards, traffic duty, investigate unusual activated and prepare reports as required.
  • Respond to emergency calls for medical assistance, ranging from bandaging a wound to life-saving cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Perform an assessment of the patient's condition and determine a proper course of treatment.
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care, according to prescribed techniques and established protocols.
  • Conform to duties detailed in Security Officer Manual and other duties deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor or Associate Director of Security.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance checks for All AED's on campus.
  • Work closely with outside emergency responders (local, state, and federal).


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified as a Security Guard and an EMTBe certified by NY State as a Security Guard.
  • Be certified by the NY State Department of Health as an Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Required to meet & maintain all qualifications and competency areas as required by the NYS DOH Policy statement 00-10 and part 800 of the EMS code
  • 1 year paid experience and/or 3 year volunteer as an EMS preferred.
  • Demonstrate competency in handling emergencies using basic life support equipment in accordance with prescribed techniques and established protocols.
  • Ability to use prescribed techniques and equipment to provide patient care and provide additional emergency care following established protocols.
  • Knowledge of crime prevention techniques including personal and property protection.
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver's License with no serious convictions.
  • Must be available for flexible hours and on-call status
