Interactive Learning Designer
Title Position Reports To: Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Interactive Learning Designer works with a small team to provide outstanding support and
professional development for Adelphi University faculty. Works closely with the Faculty Support
Lab Coordinator to ensure faculty needs are met regarding the institution's learning
management system and all related educational technologies supported by the University. Also
assists with the creation of educational tutorials and other media learning content.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Provide training and development to faculty for the institution's learning management.
system (Moodle) and all related educational technologies (including Moodle,
VoiceThread, Panopto, Adobe Connect, Google Hangouts).
Work closely with others on various aspects of maintaining the Faculty Support Lab and
Instructional Media Lab. This includes training, scheduling, just-in-time support, etc.
Collaborate with media team members to develop and execute learning design plans
that meet faculty members' course objectives and teaching goals.
Develop, maintain and update self-help tutorials and resources for supporting the
innovative use of educational technology.
Develop and implement processes and policies that are informed by best practices in the
field.
Develop and deliver faculty workshops and trainings on relevant instructional topics.
Maintain hardware & software functionality on department equipment and works closely
with IT on updates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive experience with learning management systems (i.e. Moodle, Canvas, etc.).
Experience with the use of various instructional technology tools (Microsoft Office,
Google Apps, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).
Experience with multimedia virtual communication tools (Adobe Connect, Panopto,
Voicethread, etc.).
Must be able to lead and direct others. Strong managerial abilities with three years of
experience.
Ability and willingness to develop collaborative and supportive relationships with faculty.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to effectively communicate and consult on the use of a variety of instructional
technologies with faculty who have varying levels of technical expertise.
Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to rapidly changing needs.
Ability to work consistent schedule.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree with at least two years' experience working with educational/instructional technology, technology training, or teaching at the University level. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
1-3 years of experience in e-learning, Instructional Design, and/or Web Design (preferably all).
