Senior Systems Analyst

The Senior Systems Analyst manages College Advancement's complex relational database system, including database programming, data retrieval and customized report writing to support the fundraising and relationship-building mission of the Advancement division of Wheaton College. This position plays an essential role in the application of existing and new technologies to satisfy the high-level needs of team members throughout College Advancement and Wheaton College.

As an integral member of the division's Advancement Information Systems department, the Senior Systems Analyst partners closely with other departments within the Advancement division, with information systems colleagues in other divisions across campus, and with the College's central department of Information Technology Services to support a wide range of programs and priorities.

In addition to the above, the Senior Systems Analyst plays a significant role in the conversion to and implementation of a new Advancement Constituent Relationship Management ( CRM ) database, including developing new data models and reports.

The Senior Systems Analyst originates and maintains solutions to document and record fundraising outcomes, improve operational agility, streamline business processes and maximize the efficiency of data entry. This position collaborates with internal customers to define requirements for custom lists, reports and dashboards; prepares ad hoc reports; provides materials for use in trustee communications, leadership meetings, presentations, and end-of-year results analysis; and develops and maintains queries and reports to monitor data quality and integrity. This role also entails completing special projects such as donor research, analytics projects, and annual survey submissions.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, and five or more years of experience in managing data utilizing a complex relational database system, database programming, web project development, data retrieval and report writing required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be a highly collaborative individual.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of dialects of SQL as implemented in a database system such as Oracle.
• Extensive experience with report development applications such as WebFOCUS by Information Builders or a similar application.
• Experience with data mart development.
• Demonstrated superior collaborative skills among a variety of audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on clear and effective customer interactions.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team and thrive in a creative, fast-paced environment; willingness to share and communicate new ideas with team members.
• Ability and willingness to actively participate in meetings with a variety of audiences on a large range of topics and priorities.
• Impeccable attention to detail, accuracy and quality of work.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage large volumes of data in an accurate and meaningful way.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, to respond effectively to change, and to manage demanding work situations and deadlines.
• Outstanding critical thinking capabilities with proven ability to problem solve creatively.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in higher education and/or fundraising/advancement, including an understanding of advancement processes and terminology.
• Experience assisting with a database conversion.
• Familiarity with current Advancement systems such as Banner Advancement by Ellucian, a relational database in which all constituent and giving information is stored; and WebFOCUS by Information Builders, the division's main reporting tool.
