Undergraduate Program Coordinator

Position Summary:
Supervise office staff so that the office is operating in an efficient and organized way. Perform annual performance evaluations on office staff. Monitor progress towards degree for all math majors, primary and secondary, notify those making insufficient progress, and keep undergraduate records up-to-date in order for students to graduate in a timely manner. Advise Math majors, as well as other departments and students, of Mathematics' requirements. Meet with parents and students to help them understand math at Virginia Tech. Reports to Mathematics Department Chair.

Required Qualifications:
-Experience understanding, interpreting, and communicating information as complex as undergraduate degree requirements, policies, and procedures.
-Experience communicating with diverse populations asking a variety of questions.
-Documented proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management systems.
-Ability to supervise employees tactfully and effectively.
-Ability to accept high levels of responsibility for scheduling and completing work to meet deadlines without detailed supervision.
-Ability to set priorities to manage week-long high-volume workloads.

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience advising college students on class schedules, degree requirements, and academic policies and procedures, particularly at a university with a curriculum like the Virginia Tech curriculum.
-Demonstrated facility with survey tools, academic management software, and relational databases, such as Qualtrics, EAB , BDM , Canvas, Google Drive, HokieSpa, DARS , and Banner.
-Successful supervisory experience.
