ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Leads and manages the grant writing process for all institutional proposals; coordinates and monitors the tasks of the various participants
  • Proactively identify, research and evaluate government, foundation and corporate grant opportunities. Prioritize grant opportunities for senior administration based on the college and divisional strategic plans.
  • Develop case statements, letters of inquiry and other correspondence to government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other granting organizations
  • Work with faculty/staff to develop programmatic aspects of grant proposals; develop project budgets in accordance with appropriate funding regulations and college policies; provide technical assistance; ensure that all proposals are reviewed by area managers prior to submission.
  • Track submissions of all grants, expenditures of funded grants and ensure that appropriate stewardship/reporting is completed in a timely fashion
  • With the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Financial Aid and Registrar, assist with the collection of data and statistics needed for grant proposals
  • Maintain knowledge of all federal and state laws including applicable OMB Circulars and EDGAR regulations, as well as program regulations to ensure compliance. Maintain relationships with foundations to ensure ongoing ability of AIC to submit requests for funding.
  • Maintains the central repository for all grant records

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred Degree(s): Master's degree
  • Required Field of Expertise: Non-profit grant writing
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Educational grant writing
  • Preferred Training/Cert: Certified Grant Writer

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Writes clearly and persuasively; effective oral and written communication all stakeholders - funding agencies or agents; administrators, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to collect, synthesize and analyze data about the institution and its impact. Ability to understand, create and manage budgets and fund accounting.
  • Ability to multi-task and be the project manager on several grants simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and web search tools. A working knowledge of electronic systems and portals including Grants.gov, ecommons and HRSA EHB. Familiarity with Raiser's Edge is preferable.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal Office Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department.
