ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Establishes, administers, and coordinates the college's institutional research activities including collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information on the characteristics of the college for use in decision making (i.e. IPEDS; surveys; institutional factbook; ad hoc inquiries). Create new data streams specific to retention and success efforts.
  • Provides necessary support for the college's organizational effectiveness, planning, accreditation, evaluation, and program assessment activities.
  • Serves as liaison from the college to various authorities at the federal, state, and local levels for data reporting, research studies, or surveys. Prepares state, federal, and college accountability reports according to documented requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support Academic Computing and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to provide information about effective institutional practices related to improving student learning. Disseminate and communicate assessment results to internal and external audiences. Work with IT and Academic Computing to maintain the College's assessment website and Faculty Resource site.
  • Create capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve institutional effectiveness. Develops, administers, analyzes, and reports on surveys that measure engagement, performance, and satisfaction for both students and employees.
  • Assist faculty in using software to facilitate analysis of available data specific to programs, departments, schools, and the institution.
  • Assist departments undertaking program reviews by providing strategies and processes for the assessment of student learning.
  • Serve as a member of the College's Academic Assessment Committee, and other related College committees/efforts.
  • Other duties as determined by the EVPAA.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Earned doctorate from an accredited institution
  • Preferred Degree(s): Ph.D.
  • Required Field of Expertise: Five or more years of experience working in institutional research and assessment in the higher education sector. Knowledge of applied research, data analysis, and data integration. Expert level experience in the assessment of course- and program-level learning outcomes. Experience with Blackboard and/or other learning management systems.
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: 10 or more years of experience working in institutional research and assessment in the higher education sector. Experience in curriculum development or instructional design.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Expertise in institutional research and reporting. Expertise in current academic assessment practices in institutions of higher education.
  • Broad and deep understanding of data, and methods of data management and analysis
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full time, exempt level, benefit eligible position. Normal Office Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible to the needs of the department.
