ABOUT AIC

American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Collaborate with faculty and perform project management duties to develop effective online and blended courses in accordance with Quality Matters standards. Consult with faculty and administrators during the proposal, development, and implementation of new online, face to face and blended programs and courses. * Partner with faculty to evaluate, select and implement new and current learning technologies and digital content in the curriculum. Work closely with faculty to embed outcomes assessment methods into instruction including the use of Blackboard Outcomes using instructional design principles. * Administer and provide direct support for the campus learning and assessment management platform and other systems used to facilitate learning. Log service requests, document troubleshooting steps, and problem resolution details in ticket system. Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times. * Develop documentation and provide group and individual training in the use of instructional technologies, including but not limited to, the Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Outcomes, Blackboard Ally, as well as other online and classroom-based instructional technologies. * Performs other duties as required. Backup other members of the department as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Degree(s): Bachelor's degree in same disciplines with 2-3 years of professional experience, preferably in higher education
  • Preferred Degree(s): Master's degree in instructional design, education, educational technology, or related academic discipline
  • Required Field of Expertise: Background in training, staff development, and/or teaching in higher education
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Certification in instructional design processes/principles gained through an industry organization (Sloan-C, Quality Matters, e.g.)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience in instructional design processes and principles
  • Strong experience with the support and administration of learning management systems
  • Skilled in the use of multimedia, graphics, and web authoring software
  • Ability to organize and manage projects that involve a variety of stakeholders and timelines
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Blackboard LMS
  • Experience with e-portfolio, audience response, lecture capture, video streaming, and other educational technologies

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm with one hour unpaid lunch. The hours of work are flexible to the needs of the department. Flexible schedule required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times.
