Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Career Services include, but are not limited to, the following:
TECHNOLOGY :
• Design and deliver career services social media, mass communications, website copy, branding, special event marketing, etc.
• Manage software systems used to track student funding eligibility and assist in the tracking of funded internship related milestones (CareerPath Mobile).
• Manage the software system used to post student jobs & internships, on and off-campus career-related events, and employer accounts (Wheaton Works).
• Assist with website development and content maintenance; produce fellowship application-related Google forms.
• Maintain bulletin boards and publicize career events (flyers, bulletin boards, social media, The Wire, direct mail, etc.)
• Manage the office email account for Career Services and appropriately respond to all messages.
• Manage departmental LinkedIn accounts.
• Keep Career Services office current on higher education communication trends.
ADVISING :
• Advise students and young alumni in groups and one-on-one on career development-related issues.
• Perform outreach to student organizations and student leadership groups and develop/lead tailored career programs addressing specific needs of each group.
PROGRAMMING :
• Train students on the use of various software such as Purple Briefcase, Going Global, Career Path Mobile, LinkedIn, and Banner.
• Assist with the execution of the annual Senior Wheaton to the World event, the Career Fair, and the Internship Showcase.
• Develop and host alumni and employers as part of the Career Lab programs.
EMPLOYER RELATIONS :
• Support the Employer Relations efforts of the office, including scheduling employer information tabling. Oversee the employer side of the recruiting database (Purple Briefcase).
• Co-organize employer visits to campus such as faculty/classroom visits, workshops and information sessions, and career fairs.
• Design and deliver various opportunities for employers to connect with students, including expert panels, job fairs, on-campus recruiting, etc.
• Arrange employer information tables and sessions for students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Select, train and supervises a team of Career Peer Advisers in the initial development of resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, as well as job search resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of project management experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated social media, technology, and digital communications skills; ability to learn new technological tools and systems quickly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. A writing sample is requested as an optional attachment as part of the online application; marketing-related writing samples are preferred.
• Strong organizational and self-management skills while working in a fast-paced environment; ability to multitask while being attentive to detail, and complete work in a timely, efficient manner.
• Cultural competency in working effectively with diverse constituencies.
• Commitment to and demonstrated skills, knowledge, and values necessary for serving the unique needs of an increasingly diverse campus community.
• Ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment, and ability to show documented success in cultivating collaborative relationships with both internal and external constituencies.
• Passion for building relationships with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Ability to work independently as well as work as part of a team.
• Enterprising, creative and innovative; comfortable with change and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated interest in career services and student development theory as it relates to career exploration and the career development process.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree.
