POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for one tenure-track position in statistics at the assistant professor level beginning Fall 2019.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field before August 2019. AUM seeks candidates with demonstrated experience in the general area of statistics with preference given to those working in machine learning and data analytics. But, qualified candidates with any statistics background are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have a strong record of, or outstanding potential for, significant research and excellence in teaching, a commitment to service at both the departmental and university levels, and will possess effective oral and written communication skills. The Department seeks a candidate who can play a role in developing a minor/major program in statistics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those working in machine learning and data analytics.

SALARY: Starting salary is negotiable.

About the University/College
Founded in 1967, AUM is the metropolitan campus of Auburn University and serves a diverse student body of around 5,000 students. The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a bachelor's degree in mathematics, a bachelor's degree in computer science, a master's degree in computer science, and a master's degree in computer information systems and cyber security. In addition, the department coordinates a two-year pre-engineering program that prepares students to transfer to an engineering school (usually the main campus of Auburn University).
