Veterinary Technician Supervisor - Radiology


This position qualifies for a $1,000 sign on bonus following successful completion of 6 months of employment.

The Cummings Medical Center at Tufts University provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. Since 1979, we have offered high quality medical care, consultation, referral and emergency veterinary services for the care of small animals, large animals and exotic species. The Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department provides clinical support to the Foster for Small Animal, The Hospital for large Animals and academic support of the teaching mission of the Department of Clinical Sciences.

The Senior Veterinary Technician in Diagnostic Imaging (DI) which is in the Radiology Section oversees an integrated clinical care team to provide high quality diagnostic imaging services for both the Foster Hospital for Small Animals and the Large Animal Hospital. The Senior Veterinary Technician Supervisor utilizes exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to provide coaching and mentorship to all team members as well as engenders a spirit of collegiality, collaboration and teamwork both within the section and throughout the hospital. In addition, the Senior Veterinary Technician Supervisor oversees the educational experience of veterinary students on each rotation. This position provides technical support for clinical cases in the Small Animal Radiology section along with support to other areas within the section as needed. This position will assist in student teaching and provide quality Radiology service to a variety of clinicians with clinical cases and research projects. This position provides baseline guidance to the House Officers and orientation regarding Radiology equipment, policies and procedures. Duties include: being responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of the PAC (Picture Archiving and Communications) system, including system availability, function and backup, troubleshooting, database reconciliation and integrity. This position will work closely with the IT section, PACS Administrator and Care Stream Health service provider to ensure system availability and security, and monitors any new installations of software and equipment.



Qualifications:


Basic Requirements:

Graduate of accredited veterinary technology program or degree in related field. Three (3 ) years of supervisory experience. CVT or eligible required. Experience with Word, Excel, Power Point. Ability to use an electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS system (Picture Archiving and Communications) system for storing and retrieving digital radiograph images. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include three-plus (3 ) years of experience of working in a veterinary teaching hospital, human resource management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and high emotional intelligence. RT Radiology certification. Strong computer background and experience in related Radiology disciplines.
