Participating as a key member of the Annual Giving team, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving, reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, is responsible for soliciting financial support of The Simmons Fund, increasing unrestricted revenue, and increasing alumnae/i participation rates through the strategic development and execution of three core key programs: alumnae/i fundraising volunteers, including Reunion classes, affinity and parent giving and GOLD engagement/participation.

Responsibilities:

REUNION GIVING:
The Assistant Director, working closely with the Alumnae/I Engagement and Events team members, directly manages the 18-month strategic reunion fundraising campaigns, conducting personal solicitations; training, coordinating, and supporting alumnae volunteers in their fundraising efforts; and serving as the primary point of contact for volunteers and other Advancement team members that have been identified to involve in the class's management strategy. In this capacity, the Assistant Director conducts research and data analysis of class giving trends, philanthropic capacity, and engagement in order to create comprehensive strategies for individual reunion classes to dramatically increase revenue and participation during the reunion year.

CLASS GIVING AND VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT:
Continue the cycle of engagement for future reunion classes with class officers who are in year 3 and 4 of the five-year reunion cycle by building, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with class officers and key volunteers to sustain and increase Simmons Fund giving and participation. S/he will identify and develop the strategy for class volunteer management including fundraising campaigns, working closely with class volunteer leadership to achieve class revenue and participation goals, and will think creatively about opportunities to generate class enthusiasm, giving, and participation in all non-reunion years.

PARENT AND AFFINITY GIVING:
Implement and oversee a parent giving program including the identification, recruitment, training and management of parent volunteers to increase parent engagement and solicit current and past parents for support of The Simmons Fund. Identify other areas of affinity (1899 Society, athletics, student clubs, etc.) for volunteer recruitment and engagement with the purpose of peer-to-peer fundraising and other special fundraising initiatives.

G.O.L.D ENGAGEMENT AND GIVING:
Developing and executing strategies and opportunities to educate recent alumnae/i about philanthropy through personal solicitations, various communications, and existing events. In addition, the Assistant Director will solicit recent alumnae through specific, targeted messaging of appeal solicitations on an annual basis. This position will require identifying and building relationships with class agents and volunteers to increase Simmons Fund giving in all G.O.L.D. classes, with particular emphasis on the 5th and 10th Reunion classes to create a better understanding of the importance of philanthropy to Simmons on an annual basis. Additionally, s/he will conduct research and data analysis of class giving trends, philanthropic capacity, and engagement in order to create comprehensive strategies that will increase revenue and participation among G.O.L.D. classes.

Other duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required, 1-3 years in development, higher education preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge a plus.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, team environment;
  • Ideal candidate will be energetic, positive, extremely service-oriented, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that requires building strong working relationships across the division.

Work Schedule
This is a 40-hour position with occasional night and weekend and travel required.
