Specialist II, Contracts and Grants

Works with the Assistant Dean for Research in the college to provide general oversight/support to departments and principal investigators on grants and contracts sponsored by federal and state agencies, corporations, and foundations.

Provides proposal development assistance, reviews awards, and provides post-award management assistance.

Central to this position is providing support to principal investigators and departments in understanding relevant aspects of the Office of Management and Budget's Uniform Guidance policies and regulations, including allowable and unallowable expenditures.

Works with departments and principal investigators in managing awarded projects in accordance with university and sponsor regulations.

Monitors compliance issues and assists in resolution. Analyzes, reconciles, and reports financial information on existing sponsored and local accounts; forecasts account deficits and residual balances, and provides detail and summary reports of accounts.

Processes and works to minimize cost transfers, reviews effort reports, supports project closeout, and performs other similar post-award activities.

Works with departmental staff and principal investigators to direct them to available HR training opportunities and provides additional local training to support the successful management of grants and contracts.

Entry into the applicant pool requires the following:

a. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
b. Two (2) years' experience in post-award grants and contracts management.
c. Knowledge of federal and non-federal grant policies and regulations.
d. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
e. Employer will consider advance degrees in lieu of experience. Employer will consider experience in lieu of education at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education.
