Faculty Support Associate for Global Education

Position Summary:
Virginia Tech is seeking an experienced and collaborative individual to join a dedicated team as the Faculty Support Associate in the Global Education Office.
Virginia Tech's Global Education Office ( GEO ) is committed to providing Virginia Tech students the opportunity to develop the intercultural competence, transnational understanding, and leadership skills required to face global challenges. In cooperation with academic, service, and administrative faculty and staff, the GEO provides comprehensive support services for the development, implementation, and coordination of academically sound programs abroad that are accessible to students across all disciplines.
The Faculty Support Associate is charged with helping lead Virginia Tech's faculty-led program portfolio and activities. This position works collaboratively with faculty, staff and administrators across academic departments to support Virginia Tech's 60+ faculty-led global education programs and will play a vital role in developing new programs dedicated to delivering high quality academic experiences in environments compliant with the University's risk management policies. The position will have primary responsibility for supporting faculty-led programming in the key areas of promotion/recruitment, program design/implementation, resource stewardship and budgeting, enrollment and database management, and coordination for overall direction and function of faculty-led programs and initiatives.
The successful candidate will support the University's faculty-led programming in accordance with university policies and procedures, with responsibilities to include:
- student advising for Virginia Tech faculty-led programs and activities;
- coordinating recruitment efforts for Virginia Tech faculty-led programs and activities;
- promoting faculty-sponsored on-campus initiatives;
- supporting program development which includes budget-building, university policy compliance (education and audits), logistical planning, updates and maintenance in Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad, Banner coding, etc.;
- providing enrollment and administrative support for faculty-led programs, including training faculty/staff in the use of Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad;
- assisting in program assessment and data collection;
- serving as liaison to the Global Education Approval Committee and offering support during the program development and proposal process;
- collaborating with faculty program leaders to support pre-departure preparation for students;
- coordinating third-party or on-site provider services;
- acting as the first point of contact for faculty leaders and on-site staff; and
- administering faculty grant opportunities offered through GEO .
This position requires experience successfully communicating and working with diverse constituencies; careful attention to detail; a high level of professionalism; organizational skills appropriate to a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions and evolving priorities; and, a willingness and ability to exercise sound independent judgment while consistently maintaining awareness of the larger context and responding to the organization's overarching priorities. This is a full-time, calendar year position.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience working in international education at the post-secondary level.
- Experience living, working or studying abroad or comparable cross-cultural experience.
- Evidence of successful collaboration with individuals of diverse backgrounds and levels of authority.
- Experience with student advising and student services.
- Experience with the risk management issues in study abroad.
- Proficiency in Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad or similar enrollment management software for study abroad or higher education student information system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar application.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in a foreign language.
- Experience designing and executing international programs.
- Experience building budgets, managing finances, and making logistical arrangements related to program/project implementation.
- Experience with pre-departure preparation and orientation methods.
- Proficiency in Banner.
