Contract Faculty - Public Health, Assistant Program Director

Main Campus - Boston, MA
R04621

The Public Health Department at Simmons College invites applications for a full-time, contract faculty leadership position that will serve in the role of Assistant Program Director for Simmons' Master of Public Health in Health Equity. Responsibilities will include program development and management to support the MPH Program, along with some graduate and/or undergraduate teaching responsibilities.

The Public Health Department at Simmons is a unique, interdisciplinary program that supports a vibrant undergraduate BA and BS in Public Health, and a new, innovative, online MPH in Health Equity launched in October 2017. The MPH in Health Equity offers a unique curriculum that prepares students to address the structural determinants of health.

This position will focus on supporting MPH program functions in collaboration with the Program Director, including admissions, marketing, student support, and faculty development. The position will also support the program's accreditation process through the design and implementation of program evaluation methods and systems, development of key partnerships and initiatives, and contributions to the accreditation self-study report. The position will also carry a proportional teaching load of 1-3 courses per year, offset by program development and management work. Teaching will support courses within the MPH, and may include undergraduate public health teaching.

Qualifications:
  • DrPH, or a PhD with an MPH (ABD candidates also considered);
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in public health and a record of scholarship and/or applied public health practice experience related to health equity;
  • Strong network within the public health practice community preferred;
  • Program development or management experience.

Instructions to Applicants: Please submit a cover letter; CV; statement of teaching philosophy; one syllabus or course proposal; and three letters of recommendation and/or contact information for three professional references. All documents should be uploaded in the Resume/CV section on the 'My Experience' page of the application.

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

As a College committed to diversity, Simmons encourages applications broadly. Simmons is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to continuing to develop a more diverse faculty, staff, student body and curriculum.
