The Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Relations, Classes and Affinity Engagement is responsible for managing classes and affinity group engagement, including reunion. The position requires a high level of organization, professionalism, and customer service. The Assistant Director is responsible for building and managing a systematic process and approach for engaging class and affinity group volunteers. This position serves a critical role in developing these programs and strengthening the engagement of volunteers through collaboration with counterparts in Advancement, and within the Simmons community.

Responsibilities:

REUNIONS:
  • Work in collaboration with Advancement staff to identify, recruit, train, and motivate the alumnae/i reunion committee volunteers, to encourage reunion giving as well strong class attendance during Reunion Weekend.
  • Provide strategic direction to the committees including class meetings, educating the volunteers on the latest news from campus to share, use of social media and other outreach, and support their specific class needs..
  • Work closely with the events team to provide a robust programming for reunion and affinity groups.

AFFINITY BASED VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AND CULTIVATION:
  • Serve as the liaison to class officers and affinity-based group volunteers
  • Strengthen and maintain existing volunteer leadership and identify, recruit and manage additional class- and affinity-based volunteers.
  • Assist in planning and executing a diverse menu of engagement experiences that highlight the expertise of the College and provide opportunities for meaningful connection.

AFFINITY-BASED PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT:
  • Serve as staff liaison for affinity programs across campus and the alumni community.
  • Identify, through data analysis and alumnae/i meetings, additional affinity-based groups that would benefit from strategic engagement.
  • Work closely with other members of the Alumnae/i Engagement team to incorporate the needs of these groups into overall Alumnae/i Engagement programmatic strategy.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of professional experience
  • Event planning and volunteer management experience
  • Ability to work independently and with a creative approach
  • Ability to collaborate with senior administration, board of trustees, campus partners and volunteers to develop and implement stewardship and special event initiatives
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge is a plus
  • Exemplary analytical skills are essential as is superb attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internet search techniques and research tools
  • Familiarity with advancement software databases/resources
  • Willingness to travel domestically, if necessary, as well as work nights and/or weekends when needed (no more than 15%)
