The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Student Services Technician (Veterans Affairs Certifying Official) in the Admissions Department, located at Miramar College. Hours are Monday - Thursday 10:30 am to 7:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Major factors to be evaluated for a Student Services Technician in the Admissions department may include:Knowledge and experience related to military veterans and dependent issues.Specific knowledge of federal and state veterans education benefits and services.Experience using the VAOnce system.Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas preferred:Ability to provide coordination, training and work direction to assigned personnel.Strong conflict resolution skills.Student/Customer service experience, using tact and diplomacy while exercising good judgment with diverse individuals at all levels, in person, writing, and by telephone.Ability to interpret, apply and assist with the implementation of rules, regulations, and guidelines.Effective learning and utilization of proprietary computer programs, and evolving integrated database systems and procedures (experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is a plus).Ability to prepare effective correspondence and reports, and to maintain a variety of complex and inter-related records and files.Evidence of knowledge/experience in completing a variety of high-level technical duties that require thorough detail and accuracy, and strong organizational and planning skills.

Pay Information:
Range 23 ($3,665.57 $5,851.08) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
