Senior Assistant Director of Student Financial Services/Loan Servicing and Coll

The Senior Assistant Director of Student Financial Services/Loan Servicing and Collections Coordinator provides financial counseling to students and families, and supports a range of programs to improve accounts receivable outcomes, while ensuring compliance with federal and institutional programs and regulations.

Responsibilities of the Senior Assistant Director of Student Financial Services/Loan Servicing and Collections Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide day-to-day oversight of all loan servicing and internal collections of past due accounts.
• Support key loan processes, including cohort default tracking and outreach, processing consolidation requests, conducting address/skip tracing, and delivery of communications to borrowers.
• Support key collection processes, including oversight and maintenance of collection account activity in the Banner system, delivery of past due collections outreach for active and inactive students, and recommending accounts for external placement in line with the College's collection policy.
• Develop and deliver financial literacy/wellness programs for Wheaton students.
• Work with Student Financial Services senior staff to identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and improve operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of work experience in loan
servicing/operations, collections or other financial counseling environment required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to demonstrate organizational and customer service excellence.
• Proficiency with loan or collection management systems and office productivity applications.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, and the ability to develop successful working relationships with Wheaton students, families, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as external vendors.
• A strong commitment to student services and a liberal arts education.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in higher education and with Title IV loan management.
• Working knowledge of educational and financial privacy regulations including FERPA , Graham-Leach-Bliley Act, Red Flag rules and the Fair Debt Collection Act.
