Rank: Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) Qualifications: Required: Ph.D. in Spanish or related field with a demonstrated specialization in Spanish linguistics before the start date. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English; demonstrated potential for teaching and scholarly excellence; ability to teach a broad range of Spanish language courses and a broad range of courses in Spanish linguistics, including second language pedagogy and graduate seminars; facility with technology, including the ability to teach courses in online and blended environments. Applicants should demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience. Strongly desired: Emphasis on second language acquisition or a related field. Ability to teach courses in a language other than Spanish taught in the department.

Responsibilities: Teach courses of any level in Spanish including graduate seminars. Academic assignment will include advising and recruitment of students and appropriate committee work. A strong record of scholarly publication in Spanish Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition is required for tenure and promotion. Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation - through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Starting Date: August 17, 2018
