Lecturer in Music

Job Summary/Basic Function:	Position Begins August 2018 (contingent on budgetary resources) Description Primary responsibilities will include: teaching sections of Music Appreciation in support of the University System of Georgia core curriculum in addition to major’s courses in support of the Gordon State College Associate of Arts degree in Music; engaging in appropriate departmental service; and maintaining professional development and engagement. The Division The Department of Humanities and Programs in Fine & Performing Arts is an interdisciplinary division sponsoring courses in Art, Communication, English, Foreign Languages, Music, Philosophy, and Theater. There are 23 tenure-track faculty members in the department, 19 of whom have an earned doctorate. The College Gordon State College has served the community and region continuously since its founding in 1852, and has been a unit in the University System of Georgia since 1972. After more than three decades of serving the state as a residential two-year college, Gordon was named a state college in 2006 and asked to develop selected four-year programs to address critical state needs. GSC now offers twelve distinct baccalaureate programs with the School of Arts & Sciences housing BA degrees in English, History, Biology, Math, Human Services, Management & Administration, and Interdisciplinary Studies. GSC is an access institution dedicated to its mission of providing an exceptional education through innovative teaching and engaged learning for the benefit of the world in which we live. The Community Gordon State College is located in quaint and vibrant Barnesville, GA, just 60 miles south of Atlanta and 45 miles north of Macon. Students and faculty enjoy the pleasures of small town living together with access to the many attractions of a major metropolitan center and an international airport. Minimum Qualifications:	Master’s Degree in Music and two-year’s experience in college-level teaching. Employment is contingent on successful completion of background check.
Preferred Qualifications:	Preferred areas of specialization include Choral, Brass, or Woodwinds.
