Job Summary/Basic Function:

Description

The Department of Business and Public Service at Gordon State College is looking for a dynamic instructor in psychology. Primary responsibilities will include teaching lower and upper level psychology and/or human services course(s) in classroom and online settings; advising students; serving the college, community and discipline; and developing a continuing program of scholarship and/or professional development.

The Department of Business and Public Service is an interdisciplinary department offering courses in accounting, anthropology, business, criminal justice, economics, human services, information technology, psychology, and sociology. It offers associate degrees in business administration, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, and information technology. Baccalaureate degree programs include Management and Administration, and Human Services. A baccalaureate program in psychology is currently being proposed.

Gordon State College is a unit of the University System of Georgia and has served the community and region continuously since its founding in 1852. In 2006, Gordon State College was named a state college and asked to develop select four-year programs to address critical state workforce needs. Gordon State College currently serves approximately 3900 students.

Gordon State College is located in Barnesville, Georgia approximately one hour south of Atlanta. Students and faculty enjoy the pleasures of small town living together with access to the many attractions of a major metropolitan center and an international airport.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or nearing completion) in Psychology or a related field of study, ability to teach effectively both online and in the classroom, relate to students, and facilitate student learning.

Candidates should also have excellent communication, organizational skills, computer skills, and knowledge of instructional technology.

Preferred candidates will have experience with online education and will be highly motivated, and enthusiastic about student success.
