Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Video Editor will play a key role in structuring visual stories that support the University of Maryland's strategic mission and advance institutional objectives. The Office of Strategic Communications produces a wide range of branded content, commercials, mini-docs, promotional and fundraising videos, social media, and live events. Many of the videos produced serve a meaningful purpose and promote social change. The Video Editor is a creative and technical role that requires audio-video storytelling, motion graphics expertise and on-set production assistant skills. The editor must have an excellent creative eye, the ability to tell engaging stories, and an understanding of modern editing techniques, styles and trends. We are looking for a self-starter who can bring enthusiasm and new ideas for content creation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
A Bachelor's degree is required. A degree in the following areas Digital Media Production, Video Production, or Film Production is preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of five years experience video editing, color grading, sound design, and creating motion graphics.

Advanced knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and plugins including: Premiere Pro, Prelude, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Red Giant plugin suites

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in video editing, animation, motion graphics, color grading, sound design, and video compression codecs (specifically: .mov, and .mp4)
Ability to think strategically and creatively to support the objectives of specific projects.
Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude and ability to handle multiple tasks on short timelines.
Ability to prioritize competing demands and work requirements.
Ability to work as a part of a creative team and to think of new out-of-the box approaches.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to recognize and take action upon new opportunities and projects.
Ability to take direction during the editing process.
