The Positions

The Department of Justice and Public Safety (JPS), at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for four different adjunct faculty positions. Our Department offers undergraduate degrees in criminal justice, with emphasis in law enforcement, corrections, security, organizational leadership, legal studies, and graduate degrees in Justice and Public Safety as well as Homeland Security. JPS is seeking adjunct faculty capable of teaching in each of these areas.

Justice and Public Safety - Criminal Justice

AUM seeks an Adjunct Professor in criminal justice capable of teaching courses in general law enforcement, security administration, and corrections. A minimum of a Master's Degree is required to teach at the undergraduate level. A Doctorate in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, or related field is required to teach at the graduate level. A Master's Degree and current field experience can be approved to teach at the graduate level. Additionally, the individual must possess a strong academic background, superior writing and communication skills.

Justice and Public Safety - Legal Studies

A successful candidate for the position of adjunct instructor in Legal Studies will hold a professional degree in law (J.D. or L.L.B.) from a law school that was on the approved list of the American Bar Association or the Association of American Law Schools at the time the degree was conferred. The individual must be licensed to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction and in good standing in all jurisdictions where admitted. Additionally, the individual must possess a strong academic background, superior writing and communication skills. Graduate teaching status will require a willingness and ability to conduct and produce academic research. Adjunct faculty members are required to provide program evaluation data.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong post law school experience as instructors at the college, university, and law school levels; in the practice of law; as authors of scholarly legal publications; and as judicial law clerks at the federal and state levels.

Organizational Leadership

AUM seeks an Adjunct Professor capable of teaching courses in organizational leadership, leadership in crisis, law for leaders, and other leadership classes. Experience teaching online as well as traditional classroom courses required. A Master's or Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or closely related field is required. A Master's Degree and current field experience can be approved to teach at the graduate level. Additionally, the individual must possess a strong academic background, superior writing and communication skills.

This degree is primarily an online degree. Those teaching in this degree program will be required to teach online. In order to teach online, the Adjunct Professor will be required to complete AUM's Blackboard training and be certified to online.

Homeland Security and Emergency Management

AUM seeks an Adjunct Professor capable of teaching courses in Homeland Security and Emergency Management classes. Experience teaching online as well as traditional classroom courses required. A Master's or Doctorate degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Organizational Leadership, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or closely related field is required. A Master's Degree and current field experience can be approved to teach at the graduate level. Additionally, the individual must possess a strong academic background, superior writing and communication skills.

This degree is primarily an online degree. Those teaching in this degree program will be required to teach online. In order to teach online, the Adjunct Professor will be required to complete AUM's Blackboard training and be certified to teach online.
