Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM): Founded in 1967, Auburn Montgomery operates under the authority of the Auburn University Board of Trustees and guidance of the Auburn University President. Located in the state capital of Montgomery, AUM serves a diverse student population of approximately 5,400 students and employs faculty/staff of 575 in five academic colleges: Business, Education, Arts and Sciences, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Public Policy and Justice. Montgomery supports cultural attractions including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, and the Rosa Parks Library and Museum, among others.

The College of Education (COE) at AUM is currently seeking a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Special Education, starting Fall 2018. The ideal candidate will be able to 1) maintain a successful strand of research and publication; 2) teach undergraduate and graduate-level special education courses that are face to face, hybrid, or online; 3) serve on a wide range of committees; and 4) assist in maintaining state and national accreditation for the COE and program area.

Overall, candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach at the college/university level, to conduct research and develop grant proposals, to present at state and/or national conferences, and demonstrate commitment to engaging in professional service.

Minimum Requirements:
• Earned Doctorate in Special Education or a relevant discipline from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• A minimum of three years K-12 classroom teaching experience in special education

Preferred Requirements:
• A strong preparation in special education instruction and research
• Robust evidence of teaching and research skills at the university level
• A well-defined research agenda
• The ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population
• The ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and school personnel
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
