The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) invites applications for one faculty position in computer science beginning August 2019. The position is a tenure-track position; however, tenure may be awarded at the time of hire depending on qualifications. Further, depending on qualifications, the position may be at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Starting salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and rank. . The successful candidate will be a faculty member of AUM's computer science program offering a master's degree in computer information systems and cyber security, a master degree in computer science and a bachelor's degree in computer science.

Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field before the employment starts. AUM seeks candidates with demonstrated experience in the general area of computer science with preference given to those working in data analytics, computer and cybersystems security or high performance computing. But, qualified candidates with any computer science background are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have a strong record of, or outstanding potential for, significant research and excellence in teaching, a commitment to service at both the departmental and university levels, and will possess effective oral and written communication skills.

AUM is located in Montgomery, the state capital of Alabama, which is undergoing a revitalization of its historic downtown. The city of Montgomery was recently voted "Best Historic City in USA" by the readers of USA TODAY and 10Best. The greater Montgomery area, with a population of over 375,000, supports significant cultural attractions including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the Montgomery Performing Arts Center, the Rosa Parks Library and Museum, and the Montgomery Zoo. Located in central Alabama, Montgomery also affords easy access to Atlanta, Birmingham, and the Gulf of Mexico beaches.
