Research Associate - Obesity Metabolism Lab, Human Nutrition Research Center on

This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

Obesity and Metabolism Laboratory at the Human Nutrition Research Center at Tufts University is focused on researching the basic causes of obesity as well the metabolic consequences. The laboratory primarily uses mouse models to investigate specific genes and protein that modulate adipocyte, hepatocyte, macrophage, or intestinal metabolism.

Work in collaboration with the senior investigator in the host laboratory. S/he works independently to participate in or lead a portion of a research project or projects. The research associate contributes ideas and suggestions to the research effort, operates independently and publishes papers in collaboration with the senior investigator. This individual may have other responsibilities in the laboratory such as supervision of staff, training of graduate students or postdoctoral fellows, grant proposal writing, writing papers, etc.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • 3 years experience in postdoctoral research position.
  • PhD, MD, DVM, DDS, DMD or equivalent Doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working with mouse models and genetic and protein analysis of samples.
  • Experience in cloning.
  • Experience in cell culture and utilizing viral systems to overexpress genes and shRNA.
  • Experience in investigating immune cells.
