This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.

The Levin laboratory at Tufts University (see http://ase.tufts.edu/biology/labs/levin/ and http://allencenter.tufts.edu/) is looking for an animal care technician who will be responsible for important aspects of the care and maintenance of our colony of planaria, a free-living, aquatic flatworm that is able to regenerate every single part of its body, and our aquatic frog colony (Xenopus laevis).

Provides basic daily care, habitat monitoring, and husbandry for aquatic laboratory research animals. Performs some technical duties to include assistance with surgery, collection of biological samples and administering medications. Maintains accurate records, inventory of supplies and equipment maintenance.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in biology or a related discipline is preferred, but individuals with significant experience in any kind of aquaculture may be sufficient.
  
• The most important quality is attention to detail, dedication to animal health, and reliability of schedule and following protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in biology or a related discipline is preferred.
• 1 2 years of laboratory experience a strong plus.
• Previous experience working with animals in a laboratory setting.
• Experience with a Xenopus habitat a big plus.
