Research Technician - School of Dental Medicine

Dental Research Administration (DRA) at TUSDM is the main research structure for all basic science and clinical projects at the Dental Sch. DRA is the liaison to the Office of the Vice Provost, Sponsored Accounting, IRB, IACUC, DLAM, Biosafety and all other offices responsible for administering research on the Tufts Health Sciences Campus. Housing several research labs including the Gavel Center for Restorative Dental Research which is endowed from Dr. J. Murray Gavel. DRA at TUSDM defines and executes the research goals and mission of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include shear bond & compressive strength, water absorption & solubility, microleakage, toothbrush wear, spectorphotometry, thermocycling, and hardness testing. May also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and coordinate equipment maintenance. Responsible for monitoring student and faculty usage of laboratory space to ensure compliance and safety; ordering and receiving laboratory supplies and equipment; conducting literature searches for protocol design and preparation; assisting in writing research protocols and proposals; running in vitro tests; collecting and reporting data; training and supervising students; writing abstracts and reports; and organizing project timelines.


Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor s degree in science with up to 1 year laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of dental equipment and terminology preferred.
