Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The position is a full-time (100% FTE ) research dedicated fellowship for 2 years. Subsequent yearly contracts are dependent on the availability of funds, the stage of training of the trainee, and their rate of progress. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is August, 16 2018. The position is located in Auburn, AL in the School of Kinesiology. Fellows will be expected to submit an application for external funding to a major federal agency or private foundation. Fellows will be expected to develop collaborations with other Auburn faculty interested in motor control, neuroimaging, genetics, and psychology.

Responsibilities:

1. The fellow will work with Dr. Neely to design and complete research projects on behavioral and brain processes associated with voluntary movement. Specifically, the fellow will work with Dr. Neely to process, analyze, and publish two existing fMRI datasets.
2. The fellow will be actively involved in the establishment of the laboratory at Auburn, including: the design of new experiments, data collection, analysis of behavioral, clinical and MRI data, regular participation in Dr. Neely's lab meetings and journal clubs, assisting in data entry and analysis, helping to maintain active IRBs, and training and supervision of study personnel.
3. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

1. PhD in a discipline related to motor neuroscience such as kinesiology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a psychology discipline (e.g., clinical, developmental, cognitive, etc.).
2. Experience working with human subjects and behavioral research.
3. Highly motivated with an established ability to work independently and in teams.
4. Excellent writing and analytic skills as evidenced by application materials and multiple peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations.
5. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment begins and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.

Desired Qualifications

Prior doctoral or postdoctoral training experience in systems neuroscience techniques for studying motor control or cognitive psychology are highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency with MATLAB , LabView, Python, R, SPSS , and/or fMRI analysis software (e.g., AFNI ).

1. Experience with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of fMRI data.
2. Experience with statistics and advanced quantitative methods.
3. Experience with grant submission (e.g., NSF , NIH , etc.) and grant project management.
