Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching
Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching with a proven track record of effective teaching.
Employs a variety of innovative teaching techniques in the clinical setting to promote critical thinking, clinical competency, and achieve course outcomes.
Maintains an advanced level of practice in a well-defined area of clinical practice that informs teaching.
Designs clinical learning experiences that reflect evidence-based approaches to instruction.
Demonstrates proficiency with knowledge, skills and attitudes required for competency in patient-centered care, team work, quality improvement, safety, evidence-based practice and informatics. ( QSEN .org; Cronenwett et al., 2009)
Plans, supervises and evaluates student clinical learning.
Collaborates with classroom instructional faculty in the planning and implementation of clinical learning experiences.
Participates in simulation and laboratory based learning experiences
Maintains certification in an area of specialty expertise
Scholarship
Supports the research/scholarly mission of the School and/or University.
Maintains currency in scholarship in the field of expertise
Service
Participates in service to the MNSON and University by attendance at school and/or university functions
Membership in professional organization(s)
Maintains availability to students for coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
Minimum of a Master s degree in Nursing for the Instructor rank. An earned doctorate in Nursing (PhD or DNP ) or a related field is desirable
Desirable qualifications include recent teaching experience in a clinical setting

Ability to work in a healthcare environment
Licensure in the state of Illinois as a Registered Nurse or Eligible for Illinois RN licensure(s)
