Event Planning Advisor

The Event Planning Advisor coordinates various groups and services in War Memorial Chapel. Assists groups in the coordination of their special events as needed, particularly for weddings and memorial services. Works a flexible schedule to accommodate special events in the Chapel.
The Event Planning Advisor serves as consultant/planning advisor for events requested/reserved in Student Engagement and Campus Life managed spaces and campus public space (including A-frames, banners, display cases, lawns, quads, atriums, and other spaces).
Additionally, the Event Planning Advisor advises event sponsors with the concepts of advance planning, coordinating logistics, delegating authority, budgeting, and the multiple facets of the university event planning process.

Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with event planning and associated activities including program development, scheduling, and coordination. Must demonstrate effective communication and management skills, and have the ability to creatively problem solve. Previous experience successfully coordinating events in a high-volume, fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. The ability to establish and maintain successful and effective relationships with a diverse, multicultural student, staff, alumni, and guest population. Must possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Considerable experience using a networked computer system with evidence of proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet preparation and utilization, database entry and maintenance. Must possess strong organizational skills that include the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and perform multiple functions with overlapping deadlines. Demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision and, more importantly, to operate within a team based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience in Public Relations/Administration, Hospitality & Tourism Management, or Business Management. Demonstrated knowledge of event scheduling software equivalent to Dean Evans & Associates' Software ( EMS ) or CollegeNet's Software (25Live). Demonstrated knowledge of diagramming software equivalent to Social Tables or Microsoft Visio. Demonstrated knowledge of event related policies and statutes in a University environment. Previous professional experience in a higher education /student affairs setting.
