Position Summary:
Enterprise Systems (ES) is a unit within the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. Enterprise Systems supports the mission of the university by developing, coordinating, and managing application software systems that provide critical information services for university constituents.
The Database and Application Administration team within Enterprise Systems is looking for a driven Banner Integration Engineer with excellent problem-solving skills and motivation to learn quickly. This mid-level position will work to provide Docker container, web server administration, application administration, enterprise systems maintenance, and technical user support in a multi-tiered 24 7 environment
The responsibilities of this position include:
Life cycle administration including installation, upgrades, patches and maintenance for application software
Work collaboratively for the development, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise application software systems
Diagnose, troubleshoot, consult, and resolve problems with complex systems in an enterprise environment
Ensure the availability, scalability, and backup and recovery of enterprise systems
Develops, implements, and maintains appropriate monitoring to ensure high system availability and maximum performance and security for critical enterprise systems
Develop and/or code software for operating systems and system utilities to assist in application integration and support of the environment

Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, information systems or related field, or equivalent training and/or work experience
-Experience supporting java-based applications
-Demonstrated abilities with Linux/ UNIX systems and the best practices for deploying applications to these stacks
-Demonstrated experience in design and delivery of comprehensive enterprise-level technology solutions
-Broad understanding of technology architecture and the complexities of enterprise-level applications
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience developing or supporting solutions in Docker
-Experience with or knowledge of Apache Tomcat, Apache HTTPD and/or Oracle WebLogic Administration
-Experience with or knowledge of Bash or other scripting language
-Experience working with Ellucian Banner products installation/upgrade procedures
-Experience with or exposure to cloud services (ideally AWS )
