Reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Admission Counselor is responsible for the recruitment and counseling of undergraduate students. The Admission Counselor will be responsible for managing a geographic territory to conduct recruiting efforts, and evaluating and counseling first year students, as well as transfer students at times, from the prospect stage through their full enrollment cycle. This role will be expected to travel to regional and national recruitment events, interview prospective students and meet with their families, and evaluate undergraduate admission applicants.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as primary application reviewer for respective assigned territory, as well as assist with other admission counselors as and when needed, including extensive file reading/review, assessment, evaluation and recommendation for student prospect applications;
  • Develop communication methods for contacting students, families, and counselors to motivate and assist students in navigating through all points in the admission funnel;
  • Identify key priorities and needs of individual students and their families and use appropriate communications to influence their decision to enroll;
  • Identify, research and develop new opportunities and entry points in the prospect funnel with the goal of increasing the enrollment of qualified first year students;
  • Extensive travel to college fairs and high school visits to speak with prospective students, parents, high school and college counselors (travel includes approximately 12 weeks in the fall and 4-6 weeks in the spring). Travel may be regional or national, and is not restricted to the established territory of the counselor. In addition, the specific geographic territory and/or populations will be assigned to the admission counselor yearly and may be changed at the discretion of the management team;
  • Participate in all on-campus recruitment events, as well as those hosted off-campus when appropriate;
  • Participate and contribute to additional projects and initiatives within the Office of Undergraduate Admission relating to events, committees, or other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required;
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required;
  • Ability to travel both regionally and nationally for at least 16-18 weeks per year;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate active listening;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
  • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills; professional and friendly in-person, virtually and on the phone;
  • Committed to stellar customer service with timely, positive and effective responses to all inquiries and constituents.
