Annual Giving Officer

Position Summary:
The Annual Giving Officer ( AGO ) will assist the Director of Development, Moss Arts Center & ICAT in carrying out the designated duties and responsibilities for doubling the Moss Arts Center annual fund participation and revenue by the year 2022. Primary responsibilities require intense focus on building relationships through one-on-one visits and on-going communication with assigned prospects, donors, and patrons to develop giving strategies, design proposals, and solicit and close annual gifts of $1,000 and higher. The AGO is expected to travel both locally and regionally conducting face-to-face visits and solicitations with both donors, and patrons, as well as leverage telephone, email, and digital or social media outreach to solicit annual gifts in the range of $1,000 up to $25,000.
The AGO will have a portfolio of up to 250 prospects.
The AGO will close $250,000 per year using a three year rolling average.
Additionally, the AGO will steward and solicit current "destination donors" that are regular patrons of the Moss Arts Center through attending performances and/or by supporting the Moss Arts Center through previous current use or capital project gifts.
The AGO will research and find new prospects in the Moss Arts Center patron pool who are giving below their philanthropic capacity and cultivate and solicit them for larger annual fund gifts.
Working with the Director of Development (DoD), the AGO will create engagement events in broader regions (e.g. Roanoke, Richmond, and Washington DC), to build a pipeline of Virginia Tech alumni to cultivate and solicit for gifts to the Moss Arts Center annual fund.
Additionally, the AGO will assist the DoD in engaging select members of the Moss Arts Partners and the Moss Arts Center volunteer advisory board, towards increasing their annual gifts to cultivate towards their larger campaign gift.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales/marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or a related field, or master's degree.
- Willingness to travel on a frequent basis.
- Individuals should demonstrate professionalism, with strong communication skills, and be capable of motivating volunteers as well as donors.
- The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to work as a team member in a complex organization.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference given to candidates possessing an understanding and working knowledge of relational database systems.
- Preference for experience with cold calling.
- Prior work in either annual giving or special event fundraising.
- Preference given to candidates with experience in higher education.
- Preference given to experience in personal one-on-one solicitation fundraising.
- Preference given to candidates with experience working at performing arts centers.
