The Environmental Studies Program at Adelphi University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant or Associate Professor for the 2018-19 academic year, beginning August 2018. We seek an earth scientist with teaching and research expertise in marine and earth systems, and the ability to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The candidate will be expected to teach six courses, three courses per term, including team teaching an outdoor field experience course, Observing Nature in the Field, and a graduate introductory seminar. The other five courses would be chosen from Historical Geology and laboratory, Environmental Geology, Climate Change, Introduction to the Oceans, Marine Resources, Natural Science and Environmental Problems, and Sediments: An Environmental Archive (graduate).

The candidate's expertise should complement existing faculty working in coastal systems, and marine and terrestrial ecology, among other fields. He/she would be expected to provide undergraduate and graduate research opportunities. The candidate could collaborate with other Environmental Studies faculty currently working on anthropogenic changes in Long Island's north and south shore estuaries.

Applicants should have demonstrated teaching and research expertise in earth and environmental science. A Ph.D. in a related field is required at the time of appointment.
