Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Specialist, Video

Summary
As a member of the Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Group, within the Library & Information Technology Division, the Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Specialist for Video collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to support the development and production of a wide range of audio, video and multimedia materials and projects. This includes serving as the primary contact for support issues related to media editing, production, storage, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Outreach


  • Responsible for the oversight of a dynamic digital media program that effectively supports faculty and students at all levels of expertise.

  • Serves as a primary teaching resource for media-intensive courses focusing on media production and editing.

  • Provides guidance to develop curricular projects with faculty that support Buckell's teaching and learning mission. Such course projects might include: digital essays, digital stories, animations, short documentaries, and interactive documentaries.

  • Provides guidance to faculty members to facilitate digital scholarship projects (focused on audio and/or video) including: project vision and definition, advice about project scope, requirements, specification, and or design.

  • Collaborates with faculty to explore audio and video technologies that may represent new opportunities for Bucknell faculty in the classroom, in support of student learning or scholarship.

  • Trains and supervises student assistants who provide direct digital media production support and other advanced application support in the Digital Video Editing Lab.

  • Participates in decisions about the priorities of various instructional technology projects.

  • Keeps apprised of developments in the field, makes recommendations on new technologies and purchases.

  • Coordinates, develops, organizes, and leads events and programs such as presentations, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, and learning communities.

  • Serves as project team member (as appropriate) for digital scholarship projects.

  • Serves as project manager (as appropriate) for digital scholarship projects.

  • Moves forward team, organization, and University strategic plans.



Administrative


  • Works closely with other L&IT teams (classroom support, tech services, equipment desk) to ensure that the Digital Video Editing Lab, One-Button Studio, classrooms, and loaner video equipment are properly configured, imaged, and functioning as expected.

  • Documents faculty and student interactions to aid in resource planning.

  • Highlights multimedia (video) projects by:

  • Developing and maintaining content for our web showcase.

  • Writing content for other venues such as The Next Page, L&IT Matters, and University Communications.

  • Participates in and helps implement assessment efforts in the department.

  • Demonstrates discipline and independent judgment in furthering departmental and L&IT initiatives.



The Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Specialist for Video must keep abreast of changing technologies and their application in higher education. Specifically, the specialist maintains a deep knowledge of current and emerging trends, issues, and best practices in faculty outreach, instruction, information literacy/technology competency, blended learning, multi-media production, web technologies, digital scholarship, and desktop tools.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 years of demonstrated work experience with audio and video production

  • ability to write clear, accurate communications, and other documentation

  • ability to set priorities and manage work and deadlines independently

  • experience planning and executing workshops or evidence of instruction and/or teaching

  • effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
