Instructional Designer



We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Instructional Designer


This position reports to Eastern Washington University's Instructional Technologist 4. Instructional designers work as part of a team to design and develop online and hybrid courses offerings for Eastern Washington University. Eastern Online instructional designers provide instructional design consultation and assist Eastern Washington University faculty in the design and development of their online and hybrid courses. Eastern Online instructional designers also perform project management duties and are responsible for the coordination and tracking of online and hybrid course design and development processes. Additionally, instructional designers are responsible for producing and conducting professional training in a variety of areas, including instructional design, instructional technologies and learning management system. Instructional designers may also be tasked with facilitating discussions related to Eastern Online.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master degree in instructional design or instructional technology from a regionally accredited university

  • Demonstrated mastery of the Quality Matters instructional design model and recognized instructional design best practices

  • Demonstrated proficiency with learning management systems and instructional technologies

  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Face-to-face, hybrid and online teaching experience at college or university level is highly preferred

  • Proficiency with Canvas and Learning Management System

  • Experience in instructional design in a higher education environment

  • Knowledge of media design and development strategies and technologies

  • Experience with the Quality Matters rubric



Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working in a team environment
