Job Description

Required Qualifications
An earned Doctorate in Construction Management or a related field and three years of construction industry experience. An appropriate record of teaching and scholarship commensurate to being hired at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Experience in program assessment.
OR
MS in Construction Management or a related field and 10 years construction industry experience. An appropriate record of teaching and scholarship commensurate to being hired at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor. Experience in program assessment.

Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of leadership ability, a record of creative program development and on-going scholarly work, and support for collaborative learning through integrated lecture and lab activities.
Professional certifications or licensures related to the construction industry.
LEED AP certification and familiarity with sustainable development guidelines.
Experience as an ACCE visitor and/or with ACCE accreditation standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to successfully develop relationships and interact with external university constituents in construction, business, and technology and to establish relationships internally.
Skills in working in a rapidly developing regional comprehensive university with a focus on creating a student-learning environment among diverse academic disciplines.
Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate construction management courses, mentor and coach construction management faculty and students, and participate in regional/national seminars, workshops and committees.
Ability to lead continuing education programs.
Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of learners and to use information technology as a pedagogical and professional tool. Established record of success and excellence in university teaching, scholarship, and service. Interest in collaborating both within and outside of the university in the development and delivery of instruction. A commitment to collaborate with other faculty to develop a shared vision of the future.

Salary Range
Negotiable - Salary commensurate with experience

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
Implements a new undergraduate curriculum in Construction Management and attain ACCE accreditation at the earliest possible time.
Tasks include coordinating program and departmental assessment, scheduling classes, assigning courses to faculty, conducting searches for faculty positions (full-time and adjunct), and making course changes; provide liaison and information to the advising office as needed; manage the departmental budget; engage in, encourage, and assist department faculty with scholarly activities and the development of quality curriculum and instruction; conduct annual performance reviews of departmental faculty; provide recommendations for promotion and termination; respond to student concerns as appropriate; establish and maintain relationships with the local professional community and serve on appropriate committees at the College and University level as needed.
Responsible for teaching appropriate undergraduate and graduate courses and will work closely with the professional staff and faculty of the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering.
All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to engage in scholarly and service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process.
