Interior Designer

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Architectural Planning, the Interior Designer provides comprehensive interior design review and support for capital and non-capital projects, working with university departments, faculty, staff, and project stakeholders. The position will also review and support interior wayfinding for projects, develop and maintain university standards and guidelines for interior furniture, finishes, and wayfinding, and maintain materials library.

Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent training and/or relevant experience.
- National Council for Interior Design Qualification ( NCIDQ ) certification as an interior designer in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
- Considerable knowledge of, and experience in, interior design, furniture specification, and environmental graphics.
- Experience with computer-aided design.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to accomplish assigned goals.
- Strong organizational, specification, and record keeping skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience in interior design, furniture specification, and environmental graphics.
- Experience working in a public higher education setting.
- Experience and expertise in space planning and project management.
- LEED Accreditation.
- Working knowledge of the university and state processes and procedures regarding capital outlay and procurement.
