The Chemical Engineering Program within the College of Engineering and Applied Science of the University of Cincinnati invites candidates to apply for the endowed Rieveschl Ohio Eminent Scholar in Membrane Science and Technology position. This position is supported by the State of Ohio and the George Rieveschl endowment fund. It provides exciting challenges and opportunities to build an internationally recognized research and educational program in the general area of membranes. The successful candidate is expected to lead the development of innovative scholarly research programs in membranes, teach courses in chemical engineering, and attract significant funding. The candidates at the Associate and Full Professor ranks are also expected to build externally funded joint ventures, such as multi-investigator research teams and centers, and strengthen partnerships with industries.

Our program offers undergraduate, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering and is one of the earliest established programs in the country. The College of Engineering at UC has pioneered the mandatory cooperative experience for engineers since 1906 and has excellent relations with the industrial sector. The Chemical Engineering program has 16 full-time faculty, about 50 full-time graduate students and over 620 undergraduate students. The external funding for research and education is over $3 million per year; the program has well-equipped research and teaching laboratories that occupy over 120,000 square feet of space.

Cincinnati has been identified as one of the most livable cities in America in a tri-state metropolitan area of 2.2 million, with excellent cultural and entertainment opportunities, and a moderate cost of living combined with a wealth of housing options.

Minimum qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field and a total of at least 3 years of research experience related to membrane science and technology and at least 5 peer-reviewed publications pertaining to membrane science and technology.

Although this position is targeted toward a Chair at the Associate Professor level, candidates of all ranks are invited to apply. Per the Ohio Board of Regents Eminent Scholars Program, Ohio Eminent Scholars must be new hires to Ohio universities and colleges and may not be currently employed within the State of Ohio.
