Student Government Senate Standing Committee Chair (Pooled Position)

Job Description
The Student Government Senate is in need of five Standing Committee Chairs for the following committees - Legislative Committee, Appropriations Committee, University Outreach Committee, University Relations Committee, and the Special Conference and Travel Committee. The Standing Committees will meet regularly as outlined in the Student Government Senate Rules and Procedures. Each standing committee chair will serve as a member of the Senate Executive Committee.

Required Qualifications
Must have a 2.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours during fall and spring semester, and one credit hour during summer semester.
Must be a current member of the Student Government Senate to run for position.
Must have a good understanding of the Student Government Constitution, Student Government Executive Rules and Procedures, and be in good conduct standing.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

$1,768 - $2,652 Flat Rate

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
• Chair appropriate committee meeting: Legislative Committee, Appropriations Committee, University Outreach Committee, University Relations Committee, Special Conference and Travel Committee.
• Meet with assigned committee members as outlined in Senate Rules and Procedures.
• Assign a Vice Chair from available committee members to record meeting minutes and serve as Chair in the absence of the Committee Chair.
• Distribute meeting minutes to members of committee and the Senate Executive Committee within 72 hours of the meeting.
• Perform all duties in accordance to the Student Government Senate Rules and Procedures and other Student Government processes.
• The Appropriations Chair will hold budget hearings and deliberations to determine appropriate recommended allocation of the activities and services budget to the University President.
• The Special Conference and Travel Chair must review requests and allocate funds with committee to registered student organizations for appropriate organization travel.
