Description/Job Summary
Overview of Position:
  • Tutor Counselor will work with certified instructors in academic areas and lead /supervise students during ccultural, recreational and social activities. Tutor counselors are responisble for students on a 24 hour basis from 7:00 am Monday's through 2:00 pm Friday's. Tutor Counselors stay on campus with students and report directly to Residenatl Coordinators as well as full time staff.
  • Attend all required pre and in service training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Plan and supervise dorm activities
  • Represent the BCCC Upward Bound Math and Science program in a positive manner to students, employees, family and vistors at all times
  • Assist instructors in classrooms during academic sessions
  • Make appropriate referrals to Residential Coordinators and Administrative Staff.

Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Upper classman (Junior or Senior) with a 3.0 gpa or higher
  • Must be enthusiatic attitude
  • Have a positive attitude
  • Must be a self starter and have the ability to function under limited supervision
  • Must have the ability to assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise good judgement when making decisions

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Experience in Tutoring
  • Supervisory experience
