Assistant Professor, Department of Kinesiology


The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources at the University of Connecticut is regarded as one of the best in the country. Our doctoral program is presently ranked among the top 10 programs in the USA by the National Academy of Kinesiology. The faculty includes recognized leaders in the fields of physical therapy, exercise science, exercise and sport nutrition, and athletic training. In addition, the productive research program at the Human Performance Laboratory is widely recognized and published worldwide.

The Department of Kinesiology is seeking applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Primary responsibilities include leading a robust research agenda, teaching in the Exercise Science program, advising undergraduate students, mentoring graduate students, and promoting outreach. The successful applicant will be expected to devote 50% time to research and 50% to teaching and service responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold a PhD degree in a relevant area.
  • Has a record of scholarly publications and experience with grant submissions that provide strong evidence of the potential for establishing the individual as an expert researcher.
  • Has success in extramural funding and high-impact publications.
  • Has undergraduate-level teaching experience.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent skills in oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a deep commitment to promoting diversity through academic and research programs.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-doctoral research experience or presently in a research faculty position
  • Ability to collaborate and foster interdisciplinary research

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time nine month tenure track appointment, with a preferred start date of August 2018. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
