Job Description
The U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering is dedicated to quality education, scholarship, and service. All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to engage in scholarly and service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process. Environmental engineering faculty will be responsible for teaching appropriate, assigned undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, including discipline-specific environmental engineering courses. Appointment will be on a 9-month multi-year basis with a preferred starting date of January 2019.

Required Qualifications
An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a closely related field of engineering.
Professional registration or licensing or the ability to become registered a must.
ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by January 4, 2019. If successful candidate is ABD , appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred areas of expertise include sustainable and innovative water systems that focus on key issues in southwest Florida including desalination, nutrient removal and recovery and energy efficiency. Expertise in other areas of Environmental Engineering focused on the southwest Florida environment will also be considered. A rank-appropriate record of educational and/or scientific publication in scholarly journals and/or industrial experience (pertinent to one or more of the areas of interest listed above) and/or a record of externally funded research is desirable. Successful candidates must be able to teach new and/or existing courses in environmental engineering as well as in general engineering topics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Additionally, candidates should possess skills for working in a rapidly developing regional comprehensive university with a focus on creating a student learning environment among diverse academic disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of learners and to use information technology as a pedagogical and professional tool. Interest in collaborating both within and outside of the university in the development of both an undergraduate and graduate research program and in innovative and effective delivery of instruction. A commitment to collaborate with other faculty to develop a shared vision of the future.

Salary Range
Negotiable - Salary commensurate with experience
