Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching:
Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching with a proven track record of effective teaching.
Teaches courses primarily in the undergraduate and accelerated pre-licensure nursing programs as assigned.
Employs a variety of innovative teaching techniques to promote critical thinking and achieve course outcomes, including but not limited to simulation based learning, lecture, laboratory experiences, and case studies.
Demonstrates a clearly developed philosophy of and pedagogy toward teaching,
Maintains certification in an area of specialty expertise, if applicable

Scholarship:
Supports the research/scholarly mission of the School and/or University.
Demonstrates ability to successfully conduct research/scholarly projects, consistent with educational preparation
Disseminates research/scholarship to students through teaching, presentations, and publication of clinically or educationally based journal articles.

Service:
Actively serves as a member of MNSON committees and/or task forces.
Participates in University and SON activities.
Participates in community outreach activities that promote health.
Attends MNSON and University events.
Attends and assists at conferences or workshops involving MNSON or University at local level.
Maintains availability to students for coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications
Licensure in the state of Illinois as a Registered Nurse or Eligible for Illinois RN licensure(s)

Certification in specialty area preferred

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Required qualifications include:
Minimum of a Master s degree in Nursing for the Instructor rank. An earned doctorate in Nursing (PhD or DNP ) or a related field is preferred as well as post-secondary teaching experience.

Desirable qualifications include recent teaching experience with simulation-based learning and recent clinical practice.

A recommended minimum of two years of experience in area of specialization (and certification and appropriate licensure, if available) preferred. Experience in the Emergency Department desired.
