HR Generalist


Brief Summary:

The Office of Human Resources at Marist College is seeking a candidate with a strong HR background to provide excellent customer service and guidance to faculty and staff in a fast-paced high volume office. The HR Generalist will assist with data entry, special projects, and a variety of tasks in support of HRIS, benefits, and other functional areas of HR. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task to manage competing priorities. The primary responsibilities of this position are to support the human resource management system (Banner) and other systems supported by the HR team. This position serves as one of the technical points of contact for the HR office and is responsible for accurate data entry and analysis; reporting, problem solving and auditing of information.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain benefit deductions, coverage, and beneficiary records within HRIS system.
  • Manage data exchange to and from external vendors.
  • Conduct internal benefit plan audits.
  • Manage retirement plan eligibility calculations, tier level changes, and related notices.
  • Distribute retirement plan QDIA, fee disclosure, and other notices.
  • Run benefit and HR related reports on a scheduled basis and as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance and serve as back up for data entry and report generation.
  • Process monthly benefit & deductions entries for retirement and disability plans.
  • Work with Academic Affairs and Schools on Faculty Load and Compensation as needed.
  • Deliver excellent customer service responding to faculty and staff inquiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of HR Generalist experience along with a solid understanding of all areas of HR, including benefits, HRIS, employee relations, training/development, compensation, and performance management.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to inquiries and influence others.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with a proficiency in MS Office Suite a must.
  • Experience working in a higher ed setting managing large datasets strongly preferred.
