Financial Aid Verification Specialist

 

Virginia Western is accepting applications for a full-time classified position as a Financial Aid Verification Specialist in the Financial Aid Office. The successful candidate will have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to an Associates' degree with a concentration in business, accounting or related field. Working knowledge of financial aid programs, regulations, policies, and procedures, including current rules and regulations issued by the Department of Education, to provide meaningful and substantive outcomes in financial aid processing with particular emphasis on verification and FAFSA data conflict resolution. Working experience utilizing strong analytical and problem solving skills. Experience with general accounting procedures. Experience with spreadsheet software, data entry, and filing. Experience working with diverse customers. Demonstrated competence multi-tasking in a high volume deadline driven work environment. Comparable education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret student aid reports, complete needs analysis, problem solve, organize and reconcile data. Excellent written and oral communication skills and working knowledge of basic office procedures.
