Director of Athletics Video Production

Job Title: Director of Athletics Video Production Job Number: 2018-096 Department: Athletics Video - 28402 Job Description:

Job Summary: The Director of Athletics Video Production serves as the lead point of contact for all matters relating to all produced video content intended for distribution to external constituents, including but not limited to stadium big screens, linear and nonlinear broadcast television, commercial advertisements, hall of fame displays and TCU-sponsored groups (i.e., Frog Club, Alumni, Student Activities, team functions, etc.).

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

Develops best-in-class game day productions, including but not limited to team introductions, sponsor feature integration, crowd prompts and highlight packages, for all TCU Horned Frogs teams and facilities that have a video board displays by writing, producing, shooting, editing, and creating content promoting TCU Athletics.

Produces digital video content and develop social media strategies for TCU Athletics online distribution channels by coordinating with Athletics Marketing, Athletics Social Media and Athletics Communications staffs for live streaming, on-demand and archival video content, including but not limited to live events, press conferences, features, interviews, highlight videos, hype videos and miscellaneous promotions.

Provides video coverage for all TCU intercollegiate programs by working alongside TCU College of Communication staff and Athletics Staff, while managing all sport and event assignments of full-time, part-time, hourly, volunteer, student and freelance employees.

Ensures functionality of all in-venue video boards by communicating with IT staff and contracted vendors in regards to the maintenance and repair of in-venue video boards.

Creates efficiencies by producing multipurpose content that can be displayed on video boards, broadcast television, social media and GoFrogs.com.

Designs and programs videoboard displays utilizing ChyronHego/Click Effects Crossfire and Blaze computers consisting of live video, produced videos, motion graphics and live stats integration.

Continually develops skills in full time staff and graduate assistant production and post-production abilities to constantly improve the quality of work produced by TCU Athletics Video

Maintains student work force by recruiting student workers and teaching best-in-class techniques for producing live event videoboard productions, shooting, editing, and motion graphics.

Updates content for Athletics Hall of Fame video displays in coordination with Athletics Facilities and Frog Club staff responsible for overall operation of Athletics Hall of Fame.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Media or related field
  • Three years' experience of directly related job experience
  • Experience with ChyronHego/Click Effects Crossfire and Blaze computers or similar videoboard systems
  • Experience producing and shooting video content, using a wide variety of cameras and other production equipment
  • Extensive experience with non-linear edit systems (NLE)
  • Extensive experience in creating and implementing motion graphics for stadium video boards, television, and social media channels


Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience working for an NCAA Division I athletics video productions unit


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of graphics creation software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
  • Knowledge of Non-Linear Editing on the Premiere platform.
  • Knowledge of mass media storage workflows and archiving procedures.
  • Skill in both spoken and written communication.
  • Skill in video production (shooting in field and studio environments, lighting, and audio).
  • Skilled experience in producing and directing live sporting event productions (broadcast and video boards).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.


Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
  • Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 20 lbs.


Work Environment:
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Requires attendance at home and away games, events, contests and special events
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to extreme.
