Associate or Full Professor, Business and Management/Faculty Program Coordinator

Wheaton College, a leading liberal arts institution in Norton, Massachusetts, seeks an accomplished teacher, scholar, and visionary leader to coordinate and teach in its major in Business and Management. Wheaton's major in Business and Management offers a core business curriculum where students explore the operation, development, and responsibilities of organizations on both national and global scales. Embedded in the liberal arts, Wheaton's Business and Management major also fosters sustained connections with other disciplinary and interdisciplinary components of a Wheaton education. Embodying the focus on an interdisciplinary approach to business, students build on the core curriculum by choosing one of five interdisciplinary concentrations to complete their major: Analytics and New Media; Policy, Nonprofits, and the Arts; Globalization and Development; Society and the Environment; Equality, Diversity, and Social Responsibility.

Reporting to the Provost, the faculty program coordinator will teach, conduct research and/or have industry experience in any area of the program's fields (e.g. organizational behavior, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, ethics and social responsibility, and general management) or in related liberal arts disciplines. Guiding the major's continued growth and development, especially in preparation for its transition to departmental status in coming years, the coordinator will help steward the program through budget management, course planning and scheduling, as well as provide mentorship to tenure-track and visiting faculty from both academic and industry backgrounds. Among such efforts will be partnership and collaboration with the first endowed professor in social entrepreneurship, who will be a business and management faculty member. This endowed chair was created with a recent $10 million gift. As a result of this gift, Wheaton College is also poised to strengthen its position as a leader among liberal arts colleges in integrating social entrepreneurship education into the study of the liberal arts and sciences.

In addition, the program coordinator is expected to effectively communicate the importance of a liberal arts education to different audiences and also to lead in the development of new, innovative curricular and co-curricular partnerships both on and off campus. As a faculty member, the coordinator will teach a reduced course load and advise students. The faculty program coordinator will serve an initial, five-year term.

Minimum Qualifications:
The faculty program coordinator will have a demonstrable commitment to diversity and inclusion. S/he will bring innovative perspectives and successful experience leading a comparable undergraduate program. Academics holding a doctoral degree and qualified for tenure as either Associate or Full Professor will be considered.

The following are to be submitted via Wheaton's online application system: a letter of application/intent that outlines the applicant's leadership philosophy, a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness, statements of both teaching and research philosophy, and a vision statement for the Business and Management Program as a part of the liberal arts tradition of Wheaton College.

Applicants will also be required to provide a list of at least 3 professional references. Please note that references will not be contacted until later stages of the search process, and will only be contacted with candidate permission.

In order to receive fullest consideration, applications must be received by November 1, 2018. The position will remain open until filled.
